Congrats to Dr. Rahul Rajala–the lab’s newest Ph.D.! Rahul led the lab in studying protease-activated receptors for the last 5 years and has now entered med school across the street at OUHSC. We’re wishing him the best as he pursues his M.D.

New manuscript about preventing retinopathies

The Griffin lab is excited to announce our newest publication in PNAS about the impact of unwanted capillary regression in the eye. The study was led by Drs. OU Vision Workshop Awards

Congrats to Eric for winning the Wei Cao Innovation Award at the 2025 OU Vision Workshop. Eric also won the Abstract Book Cover Photograph Award for his fabulous image of blood vessels in the mouse eye.

Congrats to Chris for his new faculty position

The lab extends a fond farewell and congratulations to Chris Schafer, who recently joined the University of Central Oklahoma as an Assistant Professor of Biology. Chris was a creative and productive contributor to the lab for many years and will always be an important member of the Griffin Lab family!

Summer Saxon Scholars

Many thanks to Joey Shi and Shawn Palmer, who each spent 3 intensive weeks with us this summer conducting research as OMRF Saxon Scholars. What a privilege working with these talented pre-med students from West Point and the Naval Academy, respectively. We’re proud of all your accomplishments!

New Master’s Degree

We’re excited to celebrate Liza Rudenko’s successful defense of her Master’s degree from Jagiellonian University in Poland. Liza spent the last year training with Chris Schafer in the lab, and we’re lucky that she will remain with us another year to study capillary regression.
